History of Security Bank & Trust Company
To date
On June 5, 1905, The First State Bank of Edna,
Missouri was given its charter by the State of Missouri, for a term
of fifty years, with Capital Stock of $15,000.00, at a par value of
$ 100.00 per share. The Bank had a five man Board of Directors,
consisting of Henry Schuette, Charles Hamm, Louis Dohogne, Henry
Uelsmann, and A. Baudendistel.
On January 5th, 1911, by a vote of
the shareholders of the bank, the by-laws of the bank were changed
to change the name of the bank to First State Bank of Fornfelt,
Missouri.
On March 15th, 1955 a certificate
was issued by the Commissioner of Finance, State of Missouri that
the existence of the said First State Bank of Fornfelt be extended,
until dissolved by consent of its stockholders, or by force of the
statutes of the State of Missouri.
On August 3rd, 1960, the name of the
bank was changed to Scott City Bank.
On February 15th, 1965, the name of
the bank was changed to Scott City Bank and Trust Company, and
reorganized as a Trust Company.
On May 21st, 1992, the Commissioner
of Finance of the State of Missouri approved the merger of the
Security Bank of Bollinger County, Marble Hill, Missouri, with and
into Scott City Bank and Trust Company, with the surviving bank to
be named Security Bank & Trust Company. With the merger of Security
Bank of Bollinger County, the bank increased its locations with
branches in Marble Hill, and Patton, Missouri.
On October 3, 2003, the bank received
authorization from the Commissioner of Finance, for a branch at 325
Broadway, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The bank currently has one employee, Mary Ann
Crump, the bank’s Cashier, with over 40 years with the bank. Mary
Ann started with the bank April 9, 1962.
Velda Doggett, the bank’s manager of the Patton
facility started with the Bollinger County Bank in September of
1965. Velda took a break from the bank in 1976 to 1981 for the
birth of her daughter. Bollinger County Bank became Security Bank
of Bollinger County on December 10, 1982, which was then merged into
the current bank.
LaVerne Wilhelm, Head Bookkeeper, started with
the bank in September of 1972.
The bank has another 5 employees with at least
20 years with the bank.
The person with the longest employment with the
Bank was Thomas Uelsmann, employed with the First State Bank of
Fornfelt in 1947, and retired as Chairman of the Board of the Bank,
in January of 2004.
